Jonathan surveyed a large listed property for us and we are very grateful for the time and attention he gave to our survey. He is meticulous and conscientious. He found several worrying things about the property that a less thorough surveyor would have missed. He took time to understand us as buyers, so he was able to present the survey in terms of how the property would suit our needs or not. Jonathan used a drone to take aerial photos which was invaluable in our understanding of the roofs and chimneys. A view with binoculars would not have given us this vital information. He explained all of his findings completely and supported them with excellent photos in every case. We chose Howson Fell to conduct a level 3 survey and to provide some initial planning advice as Jonathan was very approachable and knowledgeable not only about surveys but also about house building, having built a house himself. Also, as we had thoughts on making changes to the property using Howson Fell gave us an opportunity to get some initial planning additional advice from Helen. 

Jonathan took time to understand the house that we were buying and what our thoughts were for potential changes.  Communication throughout the process was excellent and the call shortly after the survey to explain the key findings was especially welcomed. He used a drone to examine the roof which resulted in a better informed view of areas that required work. The report was very detailed and has enabled us to get a detailed understanding of all areas of the house. We’d highly recommend Jonathan and Helen.
